IEA: ASR, ASREA and SOCREA Coming TogetherOn 5 Oct 1998, the Institute of Estate Agents, Singapore was formed from the agreed amalgamation of Association of Singapore Realtors (ASR), Association of Singapore Real Estate Agents (ASREA) and Society of Singapore Institute of Surveyors and Valuers Accredited Estate Agents (SOCREA) to represent all estate agents and agencies.
Birth of CEACEA was formed on the 22 Oct 2010 as a statutory board under the Ministry of National Development. Established under the Estate Agents Act, CEA is empowered to administer the regulatory framework for the real estate agency industry.
Birth of SEAASEAA was founded by 24 KEOs of large, medium and boutique-sized Estate Agencies. SAEA Ltd transferred its operations including its members, CPD activities, RES course as well as secretariat staff to the newly registered SEAA with seed money of $500,000.
REITM launched by MNDThe Real Estate Industry Transformation Map was developed to transform the real estate industry so that it can continue to grow and provide good jobs for Singaporeans. REITM focuses on the areas of property transaction services and facilities management. CEA chairs the Digitalised Property Transactions Workgroup to implement initiatives to move the entire real estate sector towards offering seamless, efficient, and secure transactions end-to-end.
Transformation of IEAIn response to call for REITM, the 11th and 12th Councils took on the tasks of laying the foundation for IEA's transformation which was expedited during the heights of 2020-2021 Covid-19 pandemic.
13th CouncilIEA members elected the 13th Council comprising 16 Council Members who will steward IEA into its next chapter beginning 1st May 2022 ending on 30th Apr 2024.
