About RES

  • Course Provider

    IEA is the first Approved Course Provider (ACP) appointed by the Council for Estate Agencies (CEA) to conduct the Real Estate Salesperson (RES) course.

  • Course Schedule

    RES is a compulsory exam preparatory course for new entrants before they take the RES examination. Participants can opt to take the course over a period of 9 full days, or opt for 18 evening classes, both conducted only on weekdays. Refer to course time-tables.

  • Course Fees

    Full: SGD688.00. Eligible to use SkillsFuture Credit and NTUC UTAP claimable. Strictly no refund upon commencement of the course.

    NTUC members can enjoy 50% claims on the unfunded course fee (Capped at $250 per calendar year, $500 for members 40 and above) when they sign up for courses approved by UTAP.

    SkillsFuture Credit claim is eligible to all Singaporeans aged 25 and above. Individuals may use their SkillsFuture Credits to directly offset the course fee (up to $688, depending on your Available Skillsfuture Credit balance) and pay any remainder by PayNow.

    Note: Additional SkillsFuture Credit (Mid-Career Support) cannot be used for the course and can only be used for SkillsFuture Career Transition Programmes identified by SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG).

  • Course Syllabus

    The RES Examination Syllabus is prepared in the context of local laws, rules and regulations governing estate agency work and practices, and the buying/ selling/ leasing of HDB flats and private residential, commercial and industrial properties in Singapore.

  • Course Objectives

    The objectives of the RES Examination are to ensure that new entrants meet the following requirements before they practice as real estate salespersons.

    • Possess the fundamental knowledge of real estate concepts, real estate market, law of contract, law of agency, planning and development control, and principles of marketing so as to be professionally knowledgeable when performing estate agency work.

    • Able to apply knowledge required for estate agency services, in particular knowledge on the handling of sale and lease of residential, commercial and industrial properties and including but not limited to title searches, immigration checks and financial calculations.

    • Understand and apply good ethics, relevant laws and regulations, and best practices in estate agency work so as to uphold the professional standing of salespersons.

    • Be knowledgeable about prevailing market information and government policies and regulations.

  • FOC Revision Classes

    To help our students prepare well for the RES exams, our trainers offer full-day revision classes free-of-charge around 2 weeks before the exams.

    The revision classes are held online in the form of a full-day Zoom session. Our students shall be informed via Email and/or WhatsApp.

    As our commitment to help as many of our students clear the RES exams, our students can attend as many revision classes free-of-charge as they may require to eventually pass their RES exams.

  • RES Examination

    Due to the high demand for RES seats, course participants who have completed the RES course will not be guaranteed a seat at the RES examinations.

    Our experienced trainers are also seasoned practitioners who are drilled in learner-centric training techniques:

    • Chris Koh has more than 30 years of experience in the real estate industry under his belt. A respectable veteran, his views and comments are often quoted in the media. Chris is passionate about education and teaching, and holds an Advanced Certificate in Training and Assessment. He is a trainer for RES, CCMFP, and CPD courses. Apart from teaching, Chris also owns his own real estate consultancy firm, Chris International.

    • Robin Ooi is a property industry veteran with over 20 years of experience. A respected name in the business, Robin is currently the KEO for Property Master, a Singapore-based property agency committed to ensuring a smooth, tech-driven solution for property needs.

    • Randy Chan has more than 30 years of experience in the real estate industry. As a former Vice President of the Legal and Compliance Department for a large real estate agency, he is well versed with property laws and regulations. Randy holds an Advanced Certificate in Training and Assessment and is a trainer for RES and CPD courses.
